“Regretting You” by Colleen Hoover was a different kind of novel.
Told from the perspective of the mother (Morgan) and daughter (Clara), you see a relationship with love that has both its ups and downs.
Morgan loves her daughter desperately, but Clara was always a daddy’s girl.
When Morgan’s husband and sister end up in a fatal car crash, the relationship she had unravels and it filters into the relationship with her daughter who thinks her father could walk on water.
Struggling with the hurt and betrayal from the two people she was closest to, Morgan is reunited with a high school friend and previous crush who becomes her rock.
Unfortunately, Clara can’t understand why her mother would lean on Jonah so close to her dad’s death and why she’s so angry.
So as Morgan fights her feelings for Jonah, Clara is being drawn closer to a guy that she was forbidden to see.
Both mother and daughter are in a forbidden romance dynamic until the dam breaks and the truth is all laid out.
Once again, Colleen Hoover has written a tale that dives into the depths of infidelity, loss, love, and even parenting with this one. How she weaves all these teams together effortlessly is something to behold.
If you haven’t yet read “Regretting You,” now’s the time. You won’t… regret it. 😉
