I really wanted to love “Forever Never” by Lucy Score. I loved her novel “Things We Never Got Over” and the sequel “Things We Hide From the Light.” But alas, I just didn’t connect with this story the way I did those ones.
I’m not sure what was missing for me. Honestly, I loved the two main characters, Brick and Remi.
I liked that she painted the colors she saw in the normal world thanks to her Synestisia. That as a neat twist.
I think where it went wrong for me was the attempt at a mystery beneath the love story.
There were elements that just didn’t jive and don’t get me wrong, I like mystery, too.
But for some reason, the two arcs didn’t entirely make sense in my brain.
However, there was still TONS to love about this story. The history between Brick and Remi was awesome. I loved the whole “small town on an island” vibe.
And I even loved Remi’s wild and free spirit. (She was a firecracker.)
Overall, I still think “Forever Never” is a story that needs to be experienced. Maybe you’ll feel differently than I did. Maybe you’ll love it more than her others. Give it a read and find out!
